Greg Blatt is the CEO of both Match.com and Tinder, as well as CEO of IAC, Greg Blatt learned how to gain traction in an ever-changing industry. This type of leadership requires not only creativity but flexibility in adapting and modifying goals when necessary.
CEO World Magazine’s “Executive Spotlight: Greg Blatt”, discussed how Blatt was able to capitalize on a burgeoning industry and ensure its sustained relevance in the ever-changing tech world.
Born and raised in Telluride, Colorado, Greg Blatt has never forgotten his roots. The former CEO of the $6 billion global company IAC has just released his memoir “Mountain Town Boy,” where he recalls growing up as a local ski bum on the slopes of Telluride Mountain Resort.
Telluride is where the sun shines 300 days a year, and the locals are as friendly as they come. It’s no wonder that Greg Blatt has called it home his entire life. And after spending time in some of the world’s biggest cities, he knows that there’s no place like Telluride for him. “People here have their priorities straight,” Blatt says. “They want to ski or hike on the weekend, party hardy on Saturday night, and get up early Sunday morning to do it all over again.”
This mountain town’s magic is evident in everything from the architecture to the cuisine. The Victorian-era buildings with steep roofs and iron balconies are a sight to behold, while the local mountain cuisine is as unpretentious and hearty as the people who live here.
Blatt’s memoir “Mountain Town Boy” was recently published by Grand Harbor Press, but it wasn’t his first time writing about the town that made him who he is today. Most notably, Blatt wrote an article for MassBiz magazine where he discusses how growing up in Telluride gave Blatt perspective on what real happiness looks like:
“The best advice I ever got came from my ski coach when I was 12 years old.” said Greg Blatt.
“After a bad day at school or after missing out on making the finals of some race because someone else cheated me out of it — things that kids can get very worked up about — he would say to me, ‘Don’t sweat the small stuff.'”
Blatt certainly took that advice to heart. Now, as an investor at TMT Ventures and a bestselling author on happiness, Blatt is using his influence for good by pursuing projects in some of Telluride’s most magical places like the San Miguel River Trail and The Peaks Resort & Spa.
