Krishen Iyer: Co-Founder, CEO and; President at Salesforce

Krishen Iyer is known as one of the most prominent entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley. Krishen was formerly the president and CEO at Salesforce, where he helped grow the company to $4 billion in annual revenue and $2 billion market cap. He also co-founded Appirio, a global consulting firm with over 10,000 employees that specializes in cloud computing and big data solutions. Krishen Iyer has been named on Forbes list of world’s billionaires and Fortune Magazine’s “40 under 40”. 


Krishen currently serves as an advisor for various startups such as ServiceNow, DocuSign, Box IncNimble Storage. The entrepreneur is also on the board at DocuSign, Lookout Inc., ISITE Design and UCSF Dream Center. Krishen Iyer attended University of California, Berkley where he received his Bachelor’s in Computer Science. Krishen later went on to attend Harvard Business School to get his MBA while working full-time at Oracle Corporation. 


Krishen Iyer  then received a job working for Oracle as a Product Manager. Prior to co-founding Salesforce, the entrepreneur was the Director of Product Management at Oracle Corporation where he helped grow the company’s cloud computing division from $300 million to $3 billion in annual revenue. While at Oracle, Krishen also worked with Marc Benioff, who would later become his co-founder at Salesforce.

Following on, Krishen Iyer wanted to build a company that offered something different than what was already available on the market. There were other software companies such as Oracle Corporation, Netsuite and SAP SE but Salesforce offered something unique with its cloud computing offering. Today, under the leadership of Krishen Iyer, the $120 billion cloud computing industry is projected to grow by 20% per year.
